Proud to build green (Feb. 2007)
Construction of a 1200 square foot timber frame barn with storage, processing and office space began December 2006.  Charlottesville-based contractor, builder, and architect Kevin Murphy, of ARKShop oversaw this project.  We utilized many green building practices to reduce the impact this structure will have on the environment.  For example,  cedar and hardwood to be used throughout the barn was cut and milled at Roundabout Farm, reducing the need to transport these heavy materials which would gobble fossil fuels.  Other sustainable features include a geothermal heating and cooling system.  An apartment on the second and third stories allows the Weary family to live and breath Roundabout.  Other exciting green building projects in Charlottesville include the Charlottesville Waldorf School and the Charlottesville Transit Center.

Open House (Nov. 2008) Friends, family and farm volunteers came together for our 2008 Open House Farm Party.  We got our hands dirty planting garlic, enjoyed a pot-luck lunch, and all piled into the back of the tractor for a hay ride! The kids had a great time enjoying the fall air and running around the farm for what may have been this autumn's last warm day.

Guerilla Gardeners at the farmers' market (May 2009)
May 2nd marked the first day of our 2009 farmers' market season.  We greeted old friends and marvelled at how our littlest customers have grown since we saw them last.  Our lupine flowers were spectacular and the baby butterhead lettuces flew out of our market stand.  We gave away dozens of heirloom tomato plants to anyone who promised to practice the art of guerilla gardening
A dizzying array of food and farm centered events unfolds in Charlottesville's busy social season.  (Sept 2009)
Even though the weather cools during the Fall, things heat up in the Charlottesville area social scene.  We are proud to support three farm related events.  Find your way to the Heritage Harvest Festival at Monticello hosted by Southern Exposure Seed Exchange and Monticello on September 12.  Later that evening, Roundabout Farm will open its doors to host a gathering of young farmers and food producers, organized by Greenhorns.  Finally, The Bridge Progressive Arts Initiative presents: HARVEST: A month of programming devoted to FOOD | FARM | and ANIMALS October 2nd – 31st.
